My yard needs serious help!
My deck fell off in the middle of the night. I can not afford to replace it because I am on disability because of a on the job injury, I had to have surgery on my back from my tail bone to L1 the middle of my back. While in the hospital I got an infection which kept me in the hospital for an additional 34 days so I could use some help. My homeowners insurance was canceled until I can get it replaced. Thank you for listening
My best description for our backyard is a jungle or a forest. It is a tiered yard, or it used to be, but has become more of a slope from years of neglect before we bought the home. The slope descends into a large gully next to our property. We need to address the drainage issues, probably build retaining walls, before the erosion starts affecting our house. Also, the only thing that seems to grow in the backyard is trees and invasive ivy, which is a breeding ground for insects. We’d love to have a backyard that is a relaxing retreat, but don’t have the money or knowledge to achieve it. Thanks for your consideration!
Hello…..we had a contractor take $25,000.00 from us and did not do anything that he promised on our back yard! We had to semi finish the deck ourselves but there is so much more to be done that we can’t afford!PLEASE HELP!
On my wishlist is a zen backyard with a memory garden so that I can have a special space to remember family members who have passed. Because I am a senior citizen with a modest income, I have not been able to afford the cost of a professional landscaper to design and create the small area. It would be a dream come true if diy could make this wish on my bucketlist come true. Thank you.
We live in a little Iowa town and our yard has huge potential if someone with vision lived here. We have a very large, open backyard with tons of options. I dream about yard Crashers coming our way and just having a blast! Hot tub, pool, outside kitchen, children’s play area (I do in home child care) lots of littles running around this big open space. Please come and make this place as beautiful as I know it can be!!!
Hi, we live in a great subdivisions in Howell, Mi. Our back yard never had any real thought put into it, we back up to a main road and 1/4 mile from a train track. We moved in last year with many ideas but cancer has slowed us down from moving forward. It would mean the world to me to have an outside area for my wife to enjoy and relax while fighting this deadly cancer. We have used allot of our resources in health care and just can’t move forward at this time of our life on this back yard project.
Sincerely,
Turnquist’s
I have been a gardener for many years and then LIFE got in the way! I am almost 79 years old and my garden is aging along with me—I always had my Husband to help BUT I am so sad because he died—I now find myself unable to do it all alone, and I hire help to work along side me as often as possible but it has gotten away from me and I need to really lean it out and I do not know where to begin—My gardens won awards in the past and now I think they could use some serious help. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello,
Where to start..we’ve lived in our house 18 years. Our back yard is an entire fenced in acre. It’s empty. Void of life, only 1 tree. It’s full sun so my husband bought pergolas and tried to fence in area, but we bit off more than we can chew and it’s been sitting empty for 4 years now. We are desperate. We’ve bought pavers, but have no idea how to implement them. My husband is overwhelmed and with both of our sons serving in military, we could really use some vision/direction/help…so PLEASE…be our avengers !!!
Blessings to you, The Bryants
Moved in 2 years ago to a blank slate back yard. No patio just yard. 3 different kinds of fencing in the yard, wood on obe side, white privacy and the back and chain link on the 3rd side. 6 feet of the back of our yard is “borrowed” from the sewer authority. They can come by at any time to do mantenance. Unsure how to design, no clue where to start. Grand kids have nothing to play on thats nice. We never use the yard because it is so blah. We use our car port for picnics because it is undercover, but feel like we are always having a “hick-nic” out front. Help make our yard look fun, inviting and relaxing.
My backyard use to look like an Oais, but my Husband used to spend all his time keeping it up. Now 8 years after he passed away it has been a nightmare for me to keep it in better shape. Would like any suggestions on what to do with this now. It has over grown weeds and flowers and a koa pond that I can’t seem to get working correctly. Please any help would be appreciated
Hello ! I’m asking for help for my son, resides in Virginia Beach. Brought a home almost 2yrs ago and has been unable to complete the yard, which stays wet ,drainage is very poor. There’s very little shade and with the dips throughout, not that safe for a 2yr old to play. The deck is rotting through and uncertain how long this will last . Your help would benefit all involved and greatly appreciated. Thank you

We have the worst yard in our neighbor hood…deer come to our yard to eat the clovers (not grass like it should be). Our daughter loves being outside, but needs a better yard to play in. Please help us not be the worst yard in the neighborhood. Being teachers we have the time to be in the yard during the summers, but we are not good with DYI things.
I’m trying to create an oasis for my backyard. My dad passed away of diabetes and left me and my lovely wife his beautiful home. However, the backyard is hideous. We need help! Our vision would be a newer deck, pool, lawncare, wooden privacy fence, gazebo, etc. HELP! HELP! HELP!!

I have entered daily from the moment I stumbled across the DIY desperate landscape sweepstakes. My husband and I purchased 2 acres to put our home for our family of 5. It was an undertaking with plenty of set backs but after 2 years alot of hard work and faith we are now in our first home. We are grateful for what we have but unfortunately underestimated the amount of money and sweat equity it would be to create an outdoor living space for our family to enjoy or even just to have just grass. Oh, to have grass.. (Sorry day dreaming.) What we have is dirt and rocks and more dirt and rocks. We are trying to plant grass and level off some areas but it is so tough. We are both are full time employed and trying to balance quality time with our 8, 10, and 12 year old children. We have gotten creative and mixed the two – played music and have the kids help, pick rocks, plant; we try to make it fun for them. I would love to provide our family with a place to gather, enjoy, and be proud of. What a weight off my mind and body it would be. This opportunity to win gives me a glimmer of hope and I dream of what it would be like. It’s nice that these opportunities come up and whoever wins will be truly blessed.
Bought a brand new house no landscaping 75 years old can’t do it my self
My husband and I recently bought a beautiful home in a gated community. The backyard has been neglected for years. There are several trees, therefore; little to no grass. When it rain, it’s quite muddy! We don’t know what to do with it, and can’t afford to have it done because I recently retired. HELP!!!!
