Everyone goes through it – not winning – or as we like to call them dry spells. No one can win all of the time. It can get a little frustrating when you spend so much time entering sweepstakes but don’t win on a regular basis. Here are some things you can do if you aren’t winning.
Don’t Stop Entering
The worst thing you can do is to stop entering. If you need a break that is okay but make sure you pick up where you left off and try to be consistent when your break is over.
Entering consistently, day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year, will help you keep the winning streak going longer.
What Are You Entering?
Are you limiting yourself to cash, cars, trips? Remember, a LOT of sweepers want those very prizes so those sweepstakes will have a lot more competition. Consider entering other sweeps also that may have a nice $100-$500 grand that you could sell and put in a savings account towards that car or trip you want. While an unusual prize may not be easy to sell, washers/dryers, home entertainment centers, furniture or jewelry, anything electronic like an iPod, TV, Wii, XBOX 360, Flip video camcorder, or digital camera can be converted to money on eBay or Amazon.
Enter sweepstakes with better odds. I give you my rating for each sweepstakes posted on this site. Make sure you spend more time entering the Sweeties Picks and Good Sweeps and less on the Okay sweepstakes.
Keep Busy
Don’t concentrate on drawing dates, or specific sweeps you flooded with entries but instead put your energy into entering, or if you’re up-to-date, searching for more sweepstakes to enter on your own.
Winning takes times. If you are entering sweepstakes it can be months before the drawing date. Playing instant win games can be a way to win a prize instantly even if it doesn’t come in the mail right away.
Focus on Entering Locals
Local sweepstakes, ones that are restricted to your city, town, or state, have better odds and you should be looking to enter as much of those as you can on a regular basis. Spend time entering the ones we post on the Secret site, and using the searching instructions we give to help you find more. There are always a lot more sweepstakes out there than are ever posted on our site and other sites.
Not Having Fun Sweeping?
Sweeping can often become like a full-time job if you let it but it should be more like an enjoyable hobby. Chatting with other people who participate in the hobby can help you keep on track, focused, and encouraged. Your sweeping friends can help you find more sweepstakes to enter too.
Take a break!
If sweeping becomes a job and it gets to be a drudgery then take a break for a few days, weeks, or even a month. There will be plenty of sweepstakes to enter when you get back to it and all of the sweepstakes you already entered before your break may not have sent out the prizes so you could still find something shiny at your doorstep.
Although it can be difficult to keep upbeat during a non-winning dry spell it can be done. If you keep good records of your wins or you keep letters you received with the prizes you already won, take a look back over them and remind yourself that yes, you have won some nice things and it will inspire you that you did it before, you can do it again!
awesome reminders!!!
Thanks for the great advice Wendy!
yah, i needed this pick-me-up. I stopped sweeping for a couple months now. I completely stopped instant win games. I need to get back on that saddle! I have, however, been entering local things and won a night’s stay at a nice hotel. There’s the motivation I’ve been missing!!
Thanks for the reminder! 🙂
Will keep trying!!
I’ve been sweeping for over a year and haven’t won anything. It would be nice to win something. I don’t go for the big stuff, because I know everyone is, so I go for the smaller items.
Dry spells~ yuck! I’d rather have poison ivy! But they are part of the game so just push through to your next win. Every entry puts you closer to the next prize! For quite awhile I had stopped doing instant wins~ mostly because I’m on dial-up and they take SO long to load. But back in Nov I was in a dry spell and started doing them again. In Dec an instant win for $10,000 popped up and I about fell off my stool! Gotta love ePrize! I still have dial-up but I have a lot more stamp money so I work on mail-ins while I wait for the instants to load. I know there’s another instant win with my name on it. I’ll let you know what it is! 😉
What an awesome win!!! I can’t imagine winning anything that big but I am hopeful that I’ll get my turn someday. I would be thrilled to win a trip this year so I’m putting out my positive “win” vibes that I will make it happen. I’ve been sweeping since last August and have done well with small wins so I can’t complain. I just want to be one of those big winners that I read about often. Congrats on your great win! 🙂
what they dont tell it is it helps to have alot of sweeper friends who arent greedy and willing to help you out!! if you dont have any one helping you will never win anything big!!!
