PEOPLE’s World’s Cutest Rescue Dog Contest Presented by the PEDIGREE® brand has returned to find another adorable adopted champion. Now in its ninth year, the canine competition is accepting submissions from July 1 to July 24. Pet parents of adopted pups can enter by providing an adorable photo of their rescue pooch and their pet’s adoption story. PEOPLE and the PEDIGREE® brand want to know how adopted dogs met their families and how they have changed their loved ones’ lives since.
Each participant may only participate using one (1) rescue dog as their pet, regardless of number or species of rescue dogs they may have as pets.
ELIGIBILITY: US, 18+
END DATE: July 24, 2026
LIMIT: One Entry
Judging Criteria: 50% originality of Essay, 30% quality of Photo provided and 20% thoroughness of Entry.
All finalist Photos and Essays will be posted on people.com/rescuedogcontest during the Public Voting Phase. There will be a limit of one (1) vote per person per day.
One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a one (1) year supply of PEDIGREE® dog food awarded in the form of twelve (12) coupons, each good for one (1) bag of PEDIGREE® brand dog food valued at up to $35.98 each and the opportunity to participate in a photo shoot with Grand Prize winner’s rescue pet featured in the Entry for an upcoming issue of PEOPLE magazine. The approximate retail value (“ARV”) of the Grand Prize is $431.76.
Additionally, and subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, grand prize winner will have the opportunity to designate a charitable organization to receive a $1,000 donation from Sponsor on winner’s behalf. The selected charitable organization must be a legally recognized nonprofit or charitable organization acceptable to Sponsor in its sole discretion.
Runner-Up Prizes (2): Two (2) runner-up prize winners will each receive a PEDIGREE® gift basket including a selection of PEDIGREE® products with an ARV of $25 each.
