The PEOPLE ❤️ Pets: Dog of the Week competition, presented in partnership with Halo Collar, is officially here and it’s ready to celebrate the most adorable, charismatic pups around. This all-new, PEOPLE app-first experience invites dog lovers everywhere to spotlight their furry companions. From everyday cuddle bugs to standout canine personalities, PEOPLE is searching for dogs with star power and a story to match.
This fun community-driven program runs for five weeks and highlights one winning dog each week. Pet parents can submit their pups for a chance to be featured as PEOPLE’s Dog of the Week, complete with a personalized PEOPLE-style cover and playful, custom cover lines created by the editorial team. It’s a chance for beloved pets to step into the spotlight and become true PEOPLE pet stars.
The competition is open to dogs of all breeds, sizes and ages. To enter, participants must submit at least one of their favorite photos of their dog along with a few key details, including their pup’s name and a short caption that captures why their dog is special. Entries should showcase what makes each dog unique — whether it’s their charm, their look or their undeniable “cover-worthy” appeal.
ELIGIBILITY: US, 18+
END DATE: June 5, 2026
LIMIT: One Entry
The Contest Period consists of the “Entry Period” beginning at 12:01 a.m. ET on 5/18/26 and ending at 11:59 p.m. ET on 6/5/26 and five (5) consecutive Weekly Voting Periods, during which selected finalists will be presented for public voting.
Judging Criteria: 40% creativity and originality, 30% personality and “cover-worthy” appeal, and 30% overall visual quality.
The fifteen (15) Entries with the highest total scores will be deemed potential finalists, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Finalists will be featured in groups of three (3) during each of five (5) consecutive Weekly Voting Periods, with three (3) finalists presented for public voting in the PEOPLE App each Weekly Voting Period.
There will be a limit of one (1) vote per person per day during each Weekly Voting Period.
FINALIST PRIZES (15): Each finalist will receive one (1) Halo Collar. ARV: $599.00 each
PRIZES (5): In addition to the finalist prize, each winner will receive a one (1) year of Halo Gold Membership (ARV: $220.00), and will have their dog featured as the “Pet of the Week,” including a personalized coverline styled as a PEOPLE magazine cover, which may be published within the PEOPLE App, on People.com, and/or across Sponsor’s editorial and promotional channels. The “cover-style” feature has no retail value and is awarded at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
