10 Creative Ways to Earn Extra Money Article

CareerBuilder.com, interviewed me about the creative way I supplement our family’s income through sweepstakes winnings. The writer include me in the article entitled, 10 Creative Ways to Earn Extra Money.

The article goes on to talk about people who do freelance work to earn extra money, sell textbooks to get quick cash, sell coins and also “junk” on eBay, sell photos as stock, start a part-time business, earn extra money mystery shopping, and what I do, use sweepstakes wins to help supplement our income.

Though winning sweepstakes rarely provides actual cash, her winnings have consistently provided her and her family with 200 to 300 prizes a year, many of them large items she and her husband couldn’t afford on their incomes alone.

Prizes she has won include three TVs, two of which are flat-screens; a home theater system; three dishwashers, each won on separate occasions; at least $1,500 in grocery gift certificates; an $18,000 voucher for the vehicle of her choice; a trip to France valued at $25,000; and, in March 2009, she won $5,000 in an instant-win game.

“The Internet has so many options for saving money, getting something for free, winning a prize or earning money from home,” Limauge says. “You just need to find those resources that offer helpful information and point you in the right direction to get you started and keep you motivated.”

I really appreciate CareerBuilder for including Sweeties Sweeps in the article. I hope it shows their readers and visitors to this site that it is possible to give your income a boost through the prizes you win. Not only do we win fabulous prizes in our household on a regular basis but there have been things we won that we couldn’t use and I have sold them on eBay for extra cash. Last year I earned probably $1,500 or more just by selling prizes I couldn’t use. In an average year I can win from $10,000 to $30,000 in prizes. Some are trips which don’t turn into extra income but others can be cash, gift cards, or items I might be able to sell if I need extra cash. This hobby helps us to “win what we can’t afford” and get those extra luxuries we all want but our salaries don’t often allow for.
