McDonald’s Big Mac Avatar Twitter Sweepstakes

Beginning at noon today (12/7), @McDonald’s will launch the “Big Mac AVATAR Code Breaker Countdown” giving followers the chance to win a Big Mac lunch and private screening of AVATAR with the film’s producer Jon Landau. The 11-day sweepstakes also features 10 daily prizes (including Big Mac extra value meals, AVATAR tickets from Fandango, and movie merchandise) all leading up to McDonald’s in-restaurant promotion kicking off Dec. 18.

Eligibility: open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of entry.

Entry Dates: begins on December 7, 2009 at 12:00:00 PM Central Time and ends December 17, 2009 at 11:59:59 PM CT

How to enter: Each day of the Sweepstakes Entry Period, at or around 11:59:59 AM CT, a scrambled phrase will be posted via twitter.com/McDonalds. To enter, unscramble the phrase and follow the website link in the Twitter post to go to the Sweepstakes website where you will be required to submit your date of birth, unscrambled phrase, email address, CAPTCHA security code and click the “Next” button.

Entry Limit: one (1) Entry per person, per email address, per mailing address, per day during the Sweepstakes Entry Period. A day begins at 12:00:00 AM CT and ends at 11:59:59 PM CT. All Entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM CT on December 17, 2009 in order to be included in the Sweepstakes.

Prizes: Grand Prize: One (1) Sweepstakes Grand Prize is available which includes: round-trip, coach-class air transportation for the winner and one (1) guest from the major United States gateway city airport closest to the winner’s residence to Los Angeles, CA; ground transportation to and from airport to hotel and official Sweepstakes events; lunch for winner and their guest with Jon Landau; a private screening of the film, Avatar, for winner and their guest; and standard double occupancy hotel accommodations for three (3) days and two (2) nights to occur at the Sponsor’s sole discretion on any consecutive days between January 10, 2010 and March 31, 2010. In the event the Grand Prize winner is a minor, winner’s guest must be his or her parent or legal guardian and accompany them during all travel and events associated with the Grand Prize. Winner and their guest must be able to travel on the dates as specified by Sponsor or prize will be forfeited in its entirety. Total ARV of Grand Prize: $2,500.

Twitter Contest First Prize: Ten (10) Twitter Contest First Prizes are available each day for the eleven (11) days of the promotional period for a total of One hundred and ten (110) First Prizes of a Big Mac Avatar Prize pack which includes a Large Big Mac Extra Value Meal® for two (2), two (2) McDonald’s Avatar Promotional items as selected solely by the Sponsor and two (2) regular admission movie tickets of a maximum value of $13.50 courtesy of Fandango® to attend the Avatar movie by redeeming the promotional code at fandango.com Total ARV of each First Prize: $50.

Drawing Date: GRAND PRIZE WINNER: Within ten (10) days following the conclusion of the Sweepstakes Entry Period, a random drawing to award the Grand Prize will be conducted among all eligible Sweepstakes Entries received within the Sweepstakes Entry Period.

FIRST PRIZE WINNER: For each day during the Sweepstakes Entry Period, the first ten (10) participants to successfully submit the unscrambled code, provided the required information as noted within these Official Rules and has successfully submitted their Registration by clicking the “Submit” button, will be determined to be the First Prize winners.
