Sweeps Rating: Good
I don’t know that I’d go calling this “good”. The odds of even a $20 GC are 1:857. There are 1.8 million cards, and less than 2500 winners. While there are a lot of winners, there’s a TON of losers (1.7975 million, to be precise), you would have to eat a lot of caramel dip (over 10,000 ounces, at 12 ounces per package) to hit even once, based on probability.
Wow – that’s a lot of caramel dip! It would be cheaper (as well as healthier) to send in for a free game piece.
@ Matt – That is a lot of math in one post.. are you an evil genius? Seriously though I think Wendy takes psychology into account, the average person won’t play the code, they will throw it away. The average sweeper (by average I really mean below average) won’t mail away for a code.
You are right, there is a lot of math on that post. I’m not an evil genius, but I am a compulsive sweeper that any of the SSS folks (or Sweetie herself) will vouch for being analytic to the nth degree, but also racking up some impressive wins (an atv, two motorcycles, a jet ski, a cruise, and that’s just the last five months).
If you do send away, you’ll be getting codes from the pool of codes they set aside for mailins. The odds of any single code being a winner are (about) one in 856. That means you need to request 856 codes to have a break even expectation of a win. You’d have to spend $753 (856*.44 cents postage*2 stamps each way) to send those 856 SASE’s. The genius of this promotion is that there is literally NO cost to the sponsor for prizes unless they’re claimed, as they’re all Amazon gift cards that will undoubtedly be purchased as they are claimed by the winners.
Sorry, but spending $753 to win a $20 GC doesn’t seem like a good idea to me, especially when there are sweeps out there that are currently going on where just ONE mailin entry puts you at a 1% chance of winning a $3000 grand prize. Come join the Sweeties Secret Sweeps site where we talk about these things. 🙂
I need to have you on board to rate all of the sweeps I post and explain why they are rated that way 🙂 I will change it to an Okay rating now, ya think? Or, do you still think it has “good” chance if you buy the product? I hate it when they say unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. Second chance drawings bring up the odds just a tad.
are you sure you have to send a index card with info and self adressed envelope, or just self adressd envelope?
