Have you ever wanted to participate in the text to win sweepstakes or text to get a freebie that was offered on my Swag site but you either do not have a cell phone or you don’t have a text plan? Now you’re in luck. Txt2day is a free online texting service.
Txt2day is spam free text messaging. Texting is often referred to as SMS which means short message service. They will not send you unwanted text messages or share your phone number with anybody. If you are afraid they might they even have a place you can opt out and block your number to make sure no one gets your phone number and they have all kinds of answers to those kinds of questions on their FAQ page if you are unclear of their policies.
Since 2005 Txt2day has been allowing anybody to send free text messages from their computer to a phone. Txt2day is totally free! There’s no hidden charges. And as a reminder, they don’t call you or text you with promotional messages, nor do share your information with anybody.
If you find a sweepstakes that has a text option or a freebie I post that can be requested by text just follow these 6 easy steps to text right from your computer for free.
Step One: Visit Txt2day.com and type in the phone number you are sending your message to in the first box.
Step Two: Add your email address if you are expecting a reply back. This box is optional but you should add your email address if it is a sweepstakes or free offer because many times you will get a reply back asking for more information.
Step Three: Click Lookup if you don’t know the cell phone provider that phone number (5 to 6 character number) uses.
Step Four: Type the text message you are given to send by the sweepstakes or freebie.
Step Five: Answer the Anti-spam message. This box is put there to make sure you are a human filling out the text request and not a spam robot.
Step Six: Click Send It!Now you’re texting online for free! Give it a try the next time I post a sweepstakes or freebie offer that has a texting option.
Note: Unfortunately this service does not support texting to a shortcode.
Update: Another free texting service to use is Gizmo SMS.
I just recently found your website along with this article but I thought your readers might also like to know you can also send text via email services. All you have to know is the 10 digit number of the phone you want to text as well as the persons service provider. Each service provider has a unique email extension that sends texts straight to the phone.
Alltel – @message.alltel.com
AT&T – @txt.att.net
Sprint PCS – @messaging.sprintpcs.com

This site is request the full number, instead of the shortcode. How do i get that???
Check out my update above. You CAN'T use this free service with a shortcode. I just found that out. I will continue to look for online services to see if I can find one that accepts shortcodes.
