Eligibility: open to legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and the District of Columbia. All entrants must be at least twenty-one years old as of the date of entry.

Entry Dates: begins on February 6, 2012 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) on February 23, 2012. Entries may be submitted only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during the Entry Period.

Entry Limit: one entry per person/e-mail address per day per Show episode during each day of the Entry Period. You must submit a minimum of three (3) entries for three (3) different Show episodes during the Entry Period.

Entrants must be available for a telephone call from a producer of the ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW between February 24, 2012 and February 26. 2012. Any eligible entrant who is not available during that item period for a telephone interview will be disqualified.

One Grand Prize: Roundtrip coach airfare for Prize winner and three (3) guests to The Palace of the Lost City resort in South Africa, Hotel accommodations at The Palace of the Lost City resort for six (6) days/seven (7) nights, Prize winner’s choice of two (2) excursions for Prize winner and all guests selected from a list of excursions available during Contest winner’s stay at The Palace of the Lost City. ARV: $26,000.00. Trip to South Africa must be taken by February 28, 2013 or trip prize will be forfeited and cash will not be given in substitution to Prize winner.

The Essays will be judged by a panel of judges selected by Sponsor in Sponsor’s sole discretion. The panel will judge the Essays using the following judging criteria:

• entrant’s expressed need for the Prizes (33 1/3%)
• the inspirational attitude exhibited by the entrant in the Essay (33 1/3%)
• entrant’s creativity in expressing himself/herself (33 1/3%)
