Each week @Coinstar is giving away a year’s worth of gas and groceries, not to mention a stack of gift cards. It’s going to be GINORMOUS, so enter today.
Sept 30 Update: I contacted @Coinstarcares on Twitter back in August and they told me that it was going to now be a 3 x 5 card in an envelope with one entry per person per week. Now it seems they have taken it back and we are back to square one not knowing what the real entry rules are. You will have to decide for yourself how to enter.
The original rules:
Eligibility: US, 18+ as of August 22, 2011.
Entry Dates: begins on August 22, 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. on October 2, 2011
How to Enter: two ways
At Coinstar Machines: upon converting at least $10 U.S. dollars in coins into a voucher (redeemable for cash, no-fee eCertificate, card or charity donation at any participating Coinstar Kiosk during the Promotion Period (a processing fee applies), you will receive a print out with a code that will allow you to enter the Sweepstakes online at www.coinstar.com/ginormous_fillup
Mail: enter by hand printing your full name, home address (no PO Boxes), telephone number and age as of August 22, 2011 on a 3-1/2″ x 5″ postcard and mailing the card to:
Coinstar’s Ginormous Gas & Grocery Fill Up
Dept. E
P.O. Box 5005
Clinton, IA 52736-5005
One entry per outer postmarked envelope. Mailed entries must be postmarked by October 3, 2011 and received by October 6, 2011. Entries must be handwritten.
You may enter as often as you wish, however limit one entry per outer postmarked envelope.
Yes, the rules are confusing. Do you send a postcard, which never goes into an envelope, or send a card in an envelope. You decide!
Entries will not rollover from one Weekly Entry Period Drawing into subsequent Weekly Entry Period Drawings.
Thirty (30) Prizes Per Week:
One Grand Prize: frees groceries for one year, awarded as $6,000 in gift cards to a major grocery retailer in winner’s area (to be determined by Sponsor)
One First Prize: free gas for a year awarded as $2,400 in gas gift cards to a national gas station (to be determined by Sponsor)
Four (4) $500 grocery gift cards
Four (4) $500 gas gift cards
Ten (10) $100 grocery gift cards
Ten (10) $100 gas gift cards.
Prize Limit: one prize per person or household for the entire Promotion Period.
Drawing: A random drawing will be conducted for each Weekly Entry Period on or about the Thursday following the end of each Weekly Entry Period, beginning or about Thursday, September 1, 2011 and ending on Thursday, October 6, 2011, from among all eligible entries received for the Weekly Entry Period.

Sweetie,
I have a question on this sweeps. Does the postcard need to be inside an envelope? I just watched your video on mail in sweeps on the secret site and with this one, I am a little confused. Thank you!
Coincare updated their rules. Now you are to send a 3×5 card in an envelope, not a postcard.
Thanks Sweetie. They also changed the 1 entry mail in per week too. Glad that I waited to mail out the stack that I have for them. 🙂
Hi Wendy, some of the text has been cut off. I particularly would like to know what comes after the mail in text…name, address and telephone number…
Thanks, Debby
I am not sure what you mean by cut off. I am viewing the post and the rules are all there and nothing is cut off
Hi! Just a note, the rules actually state to mail a 3 1/2 x 5 postcard (not 3/5). Thanks!
I was in contact directly with Coinstar on Twitter and they gave me the update. They also said they would be changing the rules. See my conversation here http://twitter.com/sweetiessweeps/status/106809214621589504
Yikes! I mailed off a handful last week…I wonder if they will only count one?
Glad I saw this before I started addressing my postcards. They should change their rules page they have fb linked to though..
Note, I don’t see any update on the rules at their site. I’m not sure they have any idea about what they want on this one.
I’m guessing the person who runs their Twitter acct and the person who updates the website are two diff people and maybe companies (PR/marketing versus web designers) so maybe there is some delay in getting them updated. At least we got the low down on the correct rules 🙂
Thanks, Wendy. It’s hard to tell what they will actually do since they’ve had these rules out there since before the promo even started. And people who have been entering based on the rules. All we can do is enter…one way or another…and hope to see some wins.
A day or two after mentioning they would change the mail-in rules, they did update the rules online. I saw it myself. This was Aug 25th. However, I wanted to double-check something the other day so I pulled up the rules again and it looks like they have reverted back to the original rules. Don’t know if this is purposeful or if someone just copied the old rules file back to their server.
I asked them (via contact form or twitter post, I can’t remember) a couple days ago whether they changed the rules again (allowing unlimited mail-in entries) or if it was a mistake. I have not heard from them.
I also had sent in multiple entries (5) the first week of the contest. Hope those were accepted. But it’d be nice to know if they have opened up the contest to once again allow unlimited mail-in entries or if they still will just accept 1/week per person.
I emailed Coinstar customer service Friday night and got a response very early Saturday morning. Seems that it’s a little ambiguous still. But it appears they have allow unlimited mail-in entries as their rules originally described. Now, just to figure out the 3-1/2″x5″ postcards in an envelope thing.
Here is the response to my question and my original question:

How annoying. They should stick to one set of rules. I wish companies would learn how to write rules. Maybe they need to contact me and I will write them for them 🙂 Thanks for letting us know what you found out.
Just to clarify, the current rules are that we need to mail a 3.5×5 postcard and entries are unlimited. This is what is on the website as of today:
2) enter by hand printing your full name, home address (no PO Boxes), telephone number and age as of August 22, 2011 on a 3½” x 5″ postcard and mailing the postcard to: Coinstar’s Ginormous Gas & Grocery Fill Up, Dept. E, P.O. Box 5005, Clinton, IA 52736-5005. You may enter as often as you wish, however limit one entry per outer postmarked envelope. Mailed entries must be postmarked by October 3, 2011 and received by October 6, 2011
yikes, I didn’t know this, now to get postcards I suppose. Sad I was wasting postage though, wonder if they will honor the 3*5 cards the rules stated for a day or 2?
My husband received a call today from this one – stating he wss a second prize winner – not sure what he won yet
I tweeted @coinstar, and they say there rules have NEVER changed. (huh?) but they have extended it until october 31st!
Hmmm, I might need to have a talk with them.
the rules still say to send in (unlimited) postcards and nothing about putting them in envelopes..
There is a problem with their rules. They say send a postcard but they also say envelope. See here in the rules? enter by hand printing your full name, home address (no PO Boxes), telephone number and age as of August 22, 2011 on a 3½” x 5″ postcard and mailing the postcard to: Coinstar’s Ginormous Gas & Grocery Fill Up, Dept. E, P.O. Box 5005, Clinton, IA 52736-5005. You may enter as often as you wish, however limit one entry per outer postmarked envelope. A postcard doesn’t go in an envelope. When I talked to them back in August on Twitter they also told me it was one per week. These rules indicate it is unlimited. I asked them again yesterday and now they are ignoring me.
On vista print there is an option to order envelopes with postcards, it says A2 sized envelopes? I am still confused. and I accidentally ordered a book about postcards instead of a book of postcards off of amazon. Apparently I didn’t have enough coffee that day.
Can you even fit a post card inside an envelope? The girl on SSS who won said she sent a 3×5 card in an envelope? Should I just send out like 5/person/week and hope they all count? Coinstar said yup to me asking if it was unlimited postcard inside envelopes though..so confused
I signed up for my new winn dixie card on 10-4-11 and got this coinstar gas & grocerie for a year contest code to enter, however, it says sweepstakes runs from 8-22-11 through 10-30-11, how come this website says contest ends on 10-2-11 when i got my entry form on 10-4-11?
