I’ve always stayed away from these since I’m a non-smoker and I don’t want to start getting snail mail from them. You non-smokers… have you gotten advertising or anything and should I just claim to be a smoker to enter these wonderful IWG? 🙂
Angela, I am a non-smoker and my boyfriend and I are both signed up at Camel. I do get snail mail from them. But it’s maybe a piece per month, and 9 times out of 10 they’re advertising a new sweepstakes/instant win game. So i actually appreciate the mail I get.
They now do most of their coupons online so you can opt out of snail mail coupons which is a big help. my boyfriend and I just won the $50 GC today, and I’ve won at least 4 or 5 other $25 and $50 GC from very similar camel IWG. It’s definitely worth signing up.
I won twice on a similar game last time. I love these.
Angela,I havent received any unauthorized mail.I do request the coupons because I pass them on the family members but I have received any random solicitations from them.
Thank You!do you send samples to try?
I always seem to win something from Marlboro and other tobacco sweeps. I do get coupons in the mail every once in awhile. You might be able to opt-out somewhere on the site if you look. I have friends who smoke, so I give them my coupons.
Thanks for reminding me to play this Sweetie, I just won a $25 gift card.
Is it safe to give out ssn?
Hi Maui,
For this contest and all tobacco related ones, I believe they require your SSN for age verification purposes. As long as your on a secured site (make sure you see the padlock sign (which is a green lock symbol when logging on) – then you should be fine. If you’re using public wi-fi for instance (hotel, library, etc – then be cautious.) Hope that helps!
I won a $25 MasterCard® Prepaid Code! Thank you Sweetie for posting this! Good luck to all :)!
Someone once told me not to enter these if you are a non-smoker and are claiming so on insurance….something to do with the fact that insurance companies can be privy to this information and you may get that bill raised. Anyone know if there is any truth to this. My sister is a smoker, enters the smoker sweeps and wins many prizes from them. I am so tempted!
That is something I have never considered. And a bit concerning.
I heard the same thing from my girlfriend who works at a health insurance company. She said they buy the lists from the tobacco companies. My employer asks on their enrollment form if I’m a smoker and I don’t want to pay higher premiums so I don’t enter them. I guess it is considered cheating as well since they are looking for smokers and say as much in their rules. But it is tempting!
No idea about the insurance thing.. but the way I see it, I was once a smoker (for like a month haha), thus I am signed up for their website. I quit when I got pregnant and because I enjoy their promotions I continue to visit the site. At no time have I ever been asked “do you still continue to smoke?” before entering a sweep or IWG so who’s to say where the line of “cheating” is.
I get that it’s being dishonest to the general purpose of their promotions, but frankly I get the feeling that most companies/promotions departments find “sweepers” to be manipulating the purpose of their promotions anyway.
It does not say in their rules you have to be a smoker or anything of the sorts. Just like in all the other sweeps I’ve ever entered it says “NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND NECESSARY TO PLAY OR WIN. PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.” What I’m saying is do not worry about being a cheater or “cheater”! There is no line of cheating to cross because they do not require you to be a smoker currently, in the past or plan to be a smoker ever. The only real requirement for this particular Instant win is that you are 21+ (& US resident) because it is a Tobacco product website.
Even the sweeps that ask for UPC codes have a way for you to get a free upc code through some sort of method, hence you could enter their contest/sweep without ever using their product.
I ALWAYS go to the official rules link for a sweeps/contest to make sure I am following all requirements. Sometimes it’s as little as in the “Name” area you must include your first and last name to be eligible. I love that Sweeties includes so much detailed information plus the rules link.
It says I won, I have registered at that other website for virtual code, but I don’t see the code anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Sign into Camel website, Click on MY CAMEL on the top of page, Click on MY SWAG in the drop down, You should see the prize you won, Click on REGISTER NOW and fill out the info required. After you fill in info you should see thr VIRTUAL CODE and CVV#
I’m a non-smoker and I get snail mail from them all the time. I never considered it cheating as Ann said, though. It doesn’t seem worth it to have my health insurance cost raised.
Just won $50,thanks Sweetie!
I have been trying to register but it keeps telling me my password is invalid and I do make sure it is 8 letters. how do I enter
I believe it has to be 8 characters, including letters and at least one number, plus a capital character in there somewhere.
Just won $50 today and $25 5 days ago. THANKS Sweetie
Won $50!
I won $25 today, thanks Sweetie!
I won $25.00 🙂
Finally won $25.00! 🙂
I’m having a lot of trouble reedeming my code. First it wouldn’t let me sign in, now I can’t get the virtual code. Camel’s contact people are not much help.
Kathy, I think I might know what the problem is. Last year I won twice in Camel’s similar promotion. It tries to add it to the old list (that shows last years wins) but glitches up or something for some bizaree reason and returns me to the mainframe screen. (maybe its only set to show up to 2 virtual cards at a time?) Just enter all the same information, (address, etc.) but register a new email address and create a new account. (if you don’t have a second email address, you can create one at yahoo or one of those) Gl hope that helps.
To be more specific, you need to do all this from the “my wins” screen or something to that effect on the Camel website. You have to generate a “virtual” card through their partner…thats basically where its a little confusing. But its worth it! I got both my prize cards to work last year with a little hoop jumping.
I won $25.00!!!
I won both of the games on the spin to win, 50 and 25 it was great!
I haven’t won on the snus one yet.
