Amazon Giveaways For Bloggers and Brands:
AWESOME! There is no additional fee to run an Amazon Giveaway. As the giveaway host, you purchase the prizes at the price on the Amazon.com site, and pay for sales tax and shipping to the winner(s). If prizes are unclaimed when your giveaway ends, those will be returned and included in your refund.
You can giveaway a maximum of 30 prizes and the total value of the prizes cannot exceed $5,000. If you select higher value prizes, winners will be required to verify their Tax ID (SSN) before receiving their prize. The Blogger or Brand must pay the lowest cost shipping on each prize awarded and the final cost is determined by winners’ shipping addresses. FREE Shipping does apply if the individual prize item is eligible and is $35 or more. Neither blogger’s or brand’s nor winners’ Prime FREE Two-Day Shipping benefits apply to giveaway prizes. There is no limit on the number of individual giveaways you can setup. If the value of all prizes exceeds $500 then residents of Rhode Island cannot participate. If you or a participant shares the link on Twitter or any other public forum, anyone can discover your giveaway and participate. The only restriction you can place at this time is to require participants to follow your account on Twitter.
IMPORTANT: You can’t make changes to your giveaway once it is live so check the facts carefully before you launch. If you find something wrong, simply do not promote your giveaway and allow it to expire.
Amazon Giveaways combine five features into one solution that includes:
- selecting and purchasing prizes
- hosting the giveaway and determining winners
- shipping prizes to winners
- handling certain income tax reporting; and
- providing metrics
As a host, you decide what you want to give away and why, and then create awareness with your audience. Prizes can be awarded at random based on odds set by the blogger or brand, at an interval (instant win game), or to the winner can be chosen if they are the first to enter based on the number of entrants you set. Random or set interval work well for large number of entries and drive followers or video views, whereas the first number helps you get a quick response.
