Spring is here in Connecticut and I am so thrilled because being cooped up in the house for 6 long months is enough to drive a person crazy. I need light and air and flowers and sun! What I don’t need is dust and dirt so that means it’s time for Spring Cleaning.
Spring means it’s time for me to open the windows and watch the cat hair fly around the house. Yep, those darn long hair cars of mine are growing their own cats I think and I find myself chasing rolling cat balls down the hallway.
That’s Kitter – she’s not as innocent as she looks and is cause of some of the hair balls in this house.
P&G sent me some Spring products to try out and my favorite has to be the new Swiffer Duster Extender with the head that bends and handle that expands. Now I can clean the cat hair off the fan in the kitchen – yes, there’s even cat hair up there. I am loving this thing and will be using it a lot.
The handle expands so you can adjust it to be a long handle or a short handle. With the long handle I can reach all of the way up to the ceiling and on top of the fan blades.
Another thing they sent me was Cascade Complete Packs for the dishwasher. I’ve been wanting to try these and now that I have I think I am hooked. They are these little packettes that you put in your dishwasher instead of measuring out soap. No mess and they smell fresh. Another winner
The last thing in my box was Vicks Nature Fusion for coughs but since I haven’t been sick I will store that away until I need it.

We use compost, vermiculite to enhance soil and start prepping the garden for planting.
We produce compost and buy other soil enhancers to prepare garden for planting/
We turn off the furnace and open the windows for fresh spring air. Of course we have to clean inside almost immediately since the spring pollen comes in with the air.LOL
We clean up the yard and set out our patio furniture so we can spend more time loving outdoors. I open all the windows and do a big deep clean which means I even reach under the couch!
I start cleaning out closets and putting winter clothes away to make room for spring clothes.
I re-arrange furniture. To me Spring means a fresh start, so with that I like a fresh new look.
I start cleaning all the baseboards, under the bed, behind the couch, the fan blades, etc. I Hate dust. Spring is a time when I get a BURST of energy to do these types of jobs!
I definitly get rid of all the dust in my house, because the 3 of us in my family suffer spring allergies.
I can’t wait to take out the patio furniture and the fire pit… LOVE being outside and yet I know I have to get the cleaning done first. So I open the windows and begin with the bedrooms. When I am all done, I go outside for the rest of the summer.!!
The first thing I do is open the windows. Now this sounds easy but can be very scary. “Things” seem to find there was in between the window, the screen and the outer window…..I come armed with lemon. Lemon, you say, yes, spiders for instance eat with their feet. When they walk on the lemon, citris, it kills them. Now I am not about killing spiders, they eat incects and are great but I dont want them in my house. The lemon also makes the house smell fresh and clean and puts me in the mood to clean. So I start with the windows, hey I am already there. Then I do some outside work, in the garden and more inside stuff. I am not going to tackle the lawn furniture just yet as April showers may be coming.
Have to agree the Cascade Complete Packs seem to clean the best and no need to measure, cost a little more, but I feel it is well worth it.
The one thing I do every year, is clean out my kitchen cabinets. I take everything out and rewash all the dishes/glasses. I also clean the outsides as well and the tops too. It’s one job I am so glad to be finished with.
We have already started working on the lawn. The leaves were late falling and we didn’t get them all! We also have a very cat friendly home that our fabulous felines rule. After the leaves we will deal with the cat fur!
I open all the doors and windows and reverse the fans and turn them on high. I want to get all that stale air out of the house and get the fresh air in. Next thing is to get outside and trim back the plants and bushes to promote new growth.
I paint, wash curtains and move furniture for vacumning!
The first thing I do is get out the shorts and put away the sweaters. A good clean out of closets and drawers
Ok – So I have a confession to make. When it gets warm I start planning the spring cleaning. I think about the lawn, windows, gutters, leaves, dusting, carpet washing, turning the garden soil, etc. I get so exhausted by these thoughts that I fire up the grill, park myself in a lounge chair and pop open a beer. After all, everything can wait until tomorrow when I recover.
I wash the windows and weed out the closets- get rid of things and back the cold weather clothes away.
I start with packing up winter clothing!
clean the gutters!
We definitely open all the windows and let the breeze in! The yard needs to get cleaned up, all the missed leaves from fall, sticks, and excess “yuck” in general. Then, I start planning our start getting stuff ready for our yearly neighborhood garage sale!
Open all the windows to let that fresh air inside!
I pack up the winter jackets and pull out the summer dresses. Then time to think about planting.
We have lots of pine trees and they turn the white vinyl railings of our deck green. So we powerwash the deck and house then get out the umbrella table and chairs and get ready for grilling season and guests!
do outside & take deep breath, do liite walking , clean debris , plant a garden
