Spring is here in Connecticut and I am so thrilled because being cooped up in the house for 6 long months is enough to drive a person crazy. I need light and air and flowers and sun! What I don’t need is dust and dirt so that means it’s time for Spring Cleaning.
Spring means it’s time for me to open the windows and watch the cat hair fly around the house. Yep, those darn long hair cars of mine are growing their own cats I think and I find myself chasing rolling cat balls down the hallway.
That’s Kitter – she’s not as innocent as she looks and is cause of some of the hair balls in this house.
P&G sent me some Spring products to try out and my favorite has to be the new Swiffer Duster Extender with the head that bends and handle that expands. Now I can clean the cat hair off the fan in the kitchen – yes, there’s even cat hair up there. I am loving this thing and will be using it a lot.
The handle expands so you can adjust it to be a long handle or a short handle. With the long handle I can reach all of the way up to the ceiling and on top of the fan blades.
Another thing they sent me was Cascade Complete Packs for the dishwasher. I’ve been wanting to try these and now that I have I think I am hooked. They are these little packettes that you put in your dishwasher instead of measuring out soap. No mess and they smell fresh. Another winner
The last thing in my box was Vicks Nature Fusion for coughs but since I haven’t been sick I will store that away until I need it.

I start dejunking. I need to make more space.
My kitties start laying in the window.
I clean off my balcony and try to figure out how to discourage the pigeons from nesting there this year!
I open all the windows while I dust and vacuum!
I like to clean my back deck after winter is over so I can enjoy sitting out there in the warmer weather and planting new flowers in my pots. The deck gets really dirty from being under Evergreen trees, and all the wet weather makes it a bit moss covered if I don’t scrub it.
I am in Florida so it is always summer here. However I grew up where the seasons changed (miss that so much). When Spring comes I start getting my 5 grandbabies Easter baskets ready (using lots of coupons… thanks Sweetie). I also go though the house room by room. As I do a big clean, litle by little I see what I really don’t need, and giveaway what would be useul to someone else. I used to do yard sales but my health no longer will allow it.
The changing of the seasons is nice but they sure don’t last long in Connecticut. I think I’m ready to move back down South.
I have to start cleaning from top to bottom. Than bring out the tether ball and all the fun things to do with my family. I’m trying to get the hang of growing planting. I grow plants for other people just not for my home.
I open all the windows so all the dust blows off the blinds and let some fresh air flow through the house. The house gets cleaned from top to bottom.
When it starts to get warm I pull out the large houseplants I have and roll them onto the porch and patio.
I open the patio glass doors in the livig room.
This will be our first spring/summer in our new house! We used to live in a tiny apartment and now have a single house with a fenced in yard. For starters one thing that will never change, is going through clothes, switching seasons. Now this year we bought all new patio furniture, a grill(which my husband is more than excited about) and play toys for our daughter. They were all set up 2 weeks ago!
I like to start on outside projects that require refurnishing old furniture.
I open all the windows and put on my favorite tunes on my stereo and clean. I always start with the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and then the living room. It looks like a cleanning tornado hit the house. Dust bunnies beware the Spring Sheriff is in town.
I live in Florida where it’s almost always warm, but in the Spring, I like to plant some vegetable seeds. I don’t have much of a green thumb but I like to try.
I take out the grill! I love to grill in the summer 🙂
When it get’s warm? I live in Hawaii, it is warm ALL YEAR LONG! LOL. So, with that being said, everyday of the year has something to do to clean, protect, and re-organize our home. For some odd reason, our house is built the wrong way, well that is how I see it. Our rooms collect dust like CRAZY everyday, so Swiffer Dusting is a daily ritual for us! I am asthmatic and so is my 7 year old and we have allergies BEYOND anyone’s wildest dreams! Dusting and wiping is a constant lifesaving event that we do. Mopping, Sweeping, Swiffering, and dusting everything is things that we need to do all year long to keep the Dr.’s away! Although we got a weird home structure and warmness all year long we do have a spring thing we do which is giving the house touch-ups with the paint and my son gets all environmental on me and plants 20 different types of seeds he wants to watch grow. So on spring break every year we paint the outside of the house and usually change up my sons room color and theme. He went from Thomas the train when he was 4 to Wall-E, to Diego, to Cars, to Spiderman, to I can’t even count! LOL. Today we just got new Star Wars sheet and pillowcase set, window curtains, and he painted his room a brilliant orange with Star Wars wall stickers everywhere. I will definitely hope next year he picks a sport theme and keeps it til he is 18, LOL.
Well there’s an interesting twist I never thought about, Spring all year. Man could I use some of that right now. It’s the end of March and the heat is on and it’s dreary looking outside.
Oh man I wanna come to your place! I wanna be somewhere that I could control the heat and have the free cold at least a few seasons! No snow here =( I know its bad to say that because I don’t understand the trouble you all go through with the snow plowing and what not, but, oh if it would only snow here just once! hehe. Yes, and I live in the hottest part of Hawaii on a plateau known as Ewa Plains, talk about humidity! OMG! I like to straighten my curly hair, but, there is NO WAY I could do that without asking for a frizz mess within one hour, LOL.
I like to open the windows and start cleaning from top to bottom!
Our spring cleaning starts off by some major dusting around the house and really getting into the nooks and crannies that were slightly neglected during the cooler months. After we get finished with all of that, we begin to re-organize cabinets and closets and then finish off by steam cleaning the carpet. I have major allergies so I need to be really on top of things when it comes to dusting and cleaning.
I start by going through the kids clothes. Time to pack up the winter stuff and pull out the summer stuff. Pray that some of the summer stuff still fits the kids. Then move to the toys boxes, see what the kids will let us part with to make room for the new things I know they will collect all year long. Then move on to the rest of the house.
I throw open the windows! I start cleaning the windows, runners and shades. The woodwork comes next! I live in Nevada where it’s low humidity all year long so most everything tends to dry quickly.
First thing I do is open windows, then I take down curtians and wash them and start moving furniture around to clean and let light in!!
I declutter and organize those areas that seem to always get neglected.
Well since we are opening the windows, i start there
When it gets warm at my house, I get outside and weed the garden and prepare to plant vegetable seeds. This year I am planting sugar snap peas, green beans, radish, lettuce, tomatoes, and strawberries.
glad someone had some winter. It is time to open windows and get some fresh air and dust, dust dust.
