Spring is here in Connecticut and I am so thrilled because being cooped up in the house for 6 long months is enough to drive a person crazy. I need light and air and flowers and sun! What I don’t need is dust and dirt so that means it’s time for Spring Cleaning.
Spring means it’s time for me to open the windows and watch the cat hair fly around the house. Yep, those darn long hair cars of mine are growing their own cats I think and I find myself chasing rolling cat balls down the hallway.
That’s Kitter – she’s not as innocent as she looks and is cause of some of the hair balls in this house.
P&G sent me some Spring products to try out and my favorite has to be the new Swiffer Duster Extender with the head that bends and handle that expands. Now I can clean the cat hair off the fan in the kitchen – yes, there’s even cat hair up there. I am loving this thing and will be using it a lot.
The handle expands so you can adjust it to be a long handle or a short handle. With the long handle I can reach all of the way up to the ceiling and on top of the fan blades.
Another thing they sent me was Cascade Complete Packs for the dishwasher. I’ve been wanting to try these and now that I have I think I am hooked. They are these little packettes that you put in your dishwasher instead of measuring out soap. No mess and they smell fresh. Another winner
The last thing in my box was Vicks Nature Fusion for coughs but since I haven’t been sick I will store that away until I need it.

We clean all the closets, wash windows and do yard work.
The first thing I do is sit down with the Burpee catalog and order too many seeds. I have to wait till the pollen season is over to open any windows.
I plant seeds. My Dad passed away in January and he knew he was not well. Last week I went into his garden shed and found seeds, potting soil and pots. He had it all ready for me! Each envelope was labeled with type of plant & instructions. He actually left me a gift to find after he passed away. I will be working very hard this spring on those plants. Right now I am planting in tiny pots and spraying them lightly with a spray bottle, just like he wrote. I wanted to share that story, maybe unrelated to your question, just wanted to share. My father was and still is very good to his daughter! My husband will help me Spring Clean the house over the weekend. Have a great Spring everyone! Thank you Sweetie for all you do!
I clean out the garden and take the leaves away from the roses. I am ready to plant veggies and flowers.
We open the windows, mow the grass, start some things planting in the garden. Blinds are also cleaned(we have some cheap ones for a few of the rooms). We uncover the grill and start using it and uncover deck furniture.
I go through my closets – switching from winter to summer and getting rid of stuff that doesn’t fit or that I didn’t wear all winter.
The main thing I like to do each spring when the weather starts warming up is to clean my house. I like to start at the top (I have a two-story house) and work my way down, ending in the kitchen. While cleaning, I do a big sorting and throwing away of things I have collected over the past year. Doing all this somehow helps me to clear my mind and get ready for the summer.
I always take all of the blinds down and wash them.
Im actually painting my entire house this spring. Then cleaning yard.
When the weather gets warm the first thing we do is crack open the windows! Since we have to wait all winter long to do that ! Then my husband and I will work on cleaning the oustide .. from the lawn, cleaing up the plants, pulling out the grill, set up the basketball net and sparying around the house for bugs! By the time we do all that I wont be able to breathe ! 🙂 Happy Spring
I start with the inside and clean top to bottom, then go to the outside.. weed out the gardens and start planting seeds.. about time to plant I can’t wait I have my first house so this should be fun!
Gotta clean all the upstairs and downstairs windows inside and out!
We tend to the neglected flower beds!
I get rid of all the clothes that no one wears anymore and box up the winter clothes
When it starts to get warm I always clean the windows so I can see spring start to bloom.
We like to plant flowers!
powerwash the summer furniture
I buy herb seedlings and plant them in the pots by my front door.
Open the windows, turn up the radio and start so deep cleaning! Hubby starts on the outside yard work.
I do an all over cleaning and clean out the basement, which is always the most dreaded chore or all.
I open the windows so the house can air out , and then clean the carpets and drapes.
I try to do a deep clean each spring and especially weed out all of the clothes, etc. in my kids closets that no longer fit them to pass on to someone else.
I live in south Florida, so it’s like spring all year round. We did have 5 “winter” days this year where it went into the 30’s. YIKES! It’s still time for a general deep cleaning though, including the BBQ grill which is used almost daily. The patio furniture needs help and the closets have to be emptied.
I open all the windows put on some music and clean like crazy.. every room gets a good cleaning, then after all rooms are done I make myself a tall cold drink sit outside and go AHHH! love it favorite time of year
I clean my house every single day not just for Spring. I dust it from top to bottom and polish and wipe down everything. My house really doesn’t get much chance to get messy. I love Swiffer and I use Cascade as well.
I clean my entire house!! Vaccum, mop, dust, clean the carpets you name it! I open up all the windows so fresh air can come through the house. With 3 cats the dust is horrible even with me vacuuming everyday! I love the spring time! Makes everything better!
