Sometimes I get sweepstakes questions and I feel that the answers would benefit a lot of readers so I post them here. Here are a few questions from George you might benefit from.
Are we allowed to use Sharpie ultra fine point blue, black, or red markers on the paper, cards, post cards and envelopes or do we have to use black or blue ink?
Unless the sweepstakes states that a certain color has to be used or that an ink pen has to be used then yes, use whatever you like.
Does it really make a difference using colored envelopes and decorating them with stickers, or do we use just plain white envelopes?
I don’t think it matters much what envelope you use. Some people think it gives them an edge if they use a decorated envelope but I don’t. Maybe if you were entering a local giveaway where someone would be reaching in a bin and might see or feel it then it might help. But, for the most part these are national sweepstakes and they are putting all entries in a large bin and assigning them a number. The computer randomly picks the winning envelope. Or, each entry is opened and the information is added to a computer database. Once again, in that case the computer is randomly picking the winner.
On blogging. A lot of blog sites have 1 entry per person or household and say expires Sept. 27 ok now when you go back the next day, you see the same identical thing, but it says expires Sept.28, etc, etc. Do you enter only 1 time for the duration of the sweeps? Or can you enter 1 time each day?
On a blog giveaway you would have to find out if they changed the date for some reason or if it is a completely new giveaway. If they just changed the date then I would say that you could only enter once. I have not seen this happen and would love to find out some examples.
Do you have sweepstakes questions? Send them to me by [email protected] and if I think the answers will benefit others I will post them on the site.
Hi Wendy,I was curious I have twin daughters that are on the sweepstakes craze like me-But the only problem is when they say only one entry per address/household.Any advice??.I hate to leave one out.Thank you Gloria.
Gloria,
If it is just one entry per household you can only enter one person at your physical address. There is no way around that, sorry.
Wendy,
I do have a question. My birth name is Guadalupe, but I use Lupe due to the convenience. How critical will this be if I ever happen to win a big prize? Will the sponsors disqualify me if I use an alias (Lupe) instead of my birth name?? Thanks.
Lupe ,,,lol
Oh wow I really like that you have this on your blog
