Official Rules: US, 18+. January 6 – February 14, 2020 11:59 pm CT. Limit one nomination per person per day. Do not nominate the same person twice. A Nominee may only nominate him/herself one time. A “day” is defined as a twenty-four hour time period between 12:00:00 a.m. CT and 11:59:59 p.m. CT of the same day.

How to Enter: nominate someone in your community that is “Spreading smiles to others through charitable acts or good deeds”.

Round 1 Contest Judging – to determine up to sixty (60) Semi-Finalists:

• Impactful – How many people has Nominee’s Smiles Story already touched? (50%)
• Irresistible – Is Nominee’s Smiles Story buzzworthy and interesting? (25%)
• Inspirational – Is Nominee’s Smiles Story a call to action for others to start
• spreading smiles? (15%)
• Magnetic Smile and Overall Appeal – Could Nominee’s smile potentially be used on a
• limited-edition, future run of LAY’S® bags (“LAY’S® Smiles Bag”)? (10%)

Semi-Finalists will be notified on or about February 28, 2020. Limit one Semi-Finalist Prize per person/household.

Round 2 Contest Judging:– to determine which Semi-Finalists will have their smile appear on a LAY’S Smiles Bag. The Panel will evaluate all materials generated from the Photo Shoot consisting of (i) photos taken of Semi-Finalists, (ii) Semi-Finalists ability to tell their Smiles Story in thirty  second or less while being filmed, and (iii) Semi-Finalists written Smiles Story which must be written in one hundred forty characters or less by Semi-Finalist based on the following judging criteria:

• Overall appeal for potential on-pack (on LAY’S Smiles Bag) presence; physical smile and appearance. (70%)
• Ability to tell their Smile Story in a clear and compelling way. (30%)

The Sponsor will choose between 35 and 60 Semi-Finalists, those receiving the highest scores for Round 2 Contest Judging to be declared the “Finalists”. The Finalists are those persons whose smiles will appear on “LAY’S Smiles Bags” as described herein. Finalists will be determined no later than September 1, 2020.

Semi-Finalist Prizes (up to 60): $5,000 and a “Semi-Finalist Trip Prize”. The Semi-Finalist Trip Prize consists of round-trip coach air transportation (from major airport nearest Semi-Finalist’s home) for Semi-Finalist (only) to Dallas, Texas; single-occupancy hotel accommodations for up to two  nights/three days in Texas; and a $100.00 pre-paid gift card per day (up to $300.00 in pre-paid gift cards) depending on number of nights/days in Dallas, Texas, as determined by Sponsor, in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Gift cards may be used towards ground transportation and meals while in Texas. The Semi-Finalist will be expected to participate in Sponsor’s photo shoot which may take place during the Semi-Finalist Trip. Semi-Finalists shall be photographed and videotaped to potentially appear on the front and/or back of packaging (of a LAY’S Smiles Bag), in advertising materials and/or video content. Additional details to be provided to the Semi-Finalist at the time of notification. Tentative travel is expected to occur the week of March 16, 2020; exact travel dates and duration of trip to be determined by Sponsor at a later date, in Sponsor’s sole discretion. If Semi-Finalist cannot attend the Semi-Finalist Trip Prize or does not wish to take part in the Photo Shoot, he/she forfeits the entire Semi-Finalist Prize. ARV: up to $7,300

The Semi-Finalists who are not selected to have their smile appear on a LAY’S Smiles Bag, shall receive the Prize Money portion of the Semi-Finalist Prize, in full (on one  check), within eight weeks of completion of the Semi-Finalist Trip Prize. The check shall be made payable to the Semi-Finalist.

The Finalists who are selected to have their smile appear on a LAY’S Smiles Bag, shall receive $2,500.00 of the Prize Money portion of their Semi-Finalist Prize within eight weeks of the completion of the Semi-Finalist Trip Prize and the remaining $2,500.00 within eight weeks of completing the required Media Training (two checks). Both checks shall be made payable to the Finalist. The Media Training is scheduled to take place during the week August 24, 2020. The training shall take up to two hours to complete and will be conducted via phone or video call, as determined by Sponsor at a later date, in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Finalists will be asked to attend the training, review all training materials, and agree to the media guidelines as instructed by Sponsor, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, to indicate their completion of the Media Training. Finalists whose smiles will appear on the LAY’S Smiles Bags must agree to be available to do media interviews between September 10, 2020 and November 10, 2020, or he/she may forfeit the opportunity for his/her smile to appear on LAY’S  Smiles Bag.
