What is #LaceUpforLungs?
#LaceUpforLungs is the theme for the COPD Foundation’s COPD Awareness campaign. #LaceUpforLungs highlights the need for better breathing & lung health, exercise & activity, and quality of life & caring for those impacted by COPD. Participating in #LaceUpforLungs can help others learn about COPD and the ongoing need for research, education, support, and ultimately a cure for COPD, bronchiectasis, and nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease. For more information, visit the Foundation’s #LaceUpforLungs webpage
What is COPD?
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a term used to describe chronic lung diseases including emphysema, and chronic bronchitis. This disease is characterized by breathlessness. Some people with COPD also experience tiredness and chronic cough with or without mucus. COPD is (currently) an incurable disease, but with the right diagnosis and treatment, there are many things someone with COPD can do to breathe better and enjoy life and live for many years.
Who is the COPD Foundation?
The COPD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization created in 2004, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Miami, FL. The COPD Foundation was established to improve the lives of people with COPD, bronchiectasis, and nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease through initiatives that expand services and speed innovations which will make treatment more effective and affordable. We do this through scientific research, education, advocacy, and awareness with the goal of disease prevention, slowed progression, and ultimately a cure.
