It seems that as a blogger we have a lot more power than we thought. Blogging helps us create communities. That is why we have followers. There are people who look to us for advice, information, guidance, and now, it seems, where to shop and what to buy.
The most recent report interviewed 17,000 people in 29 countries and is called “When did we start trusting strangers.” It conclusively proves that as we thought, social media is now directly impacting the way we buy products and services. The publishing of billions of thoughts, opinions and experiences online in the form of blog posts, videos, ratings, reviews and photos is fundamentally changing the way everybody online sources opinions on products, brands and services when they buy something.
As a blogger you can have a lot of influence over whether someone buys a product. If you write about a specific product or service many times your readers will take your advice and buy that service or product just because you said so. You didn’t realize you had that much power did you?
Since they are already reading your blog and consider you an authority on whatever topic you choose to write about it is natural for them to trust you on other things. Just be careful what you suggest to your readers. They are relying on you to steer them in the right direction.
As a business owner you also have the same power of persuasion to promote your own products through your business blog. Using contests and sweepstakes is a great way to promote a product, service, website, movie, event, or anything else you can think of.
Giving something away to potential customers can create a buzz around your product or service and help the consumer decide if that product or service is right for them.
