Here are the clues for the Mystery Puzzle [as of 03/09/13]
Artifact 1
Clue: If you want to see this artifact up close and personal you can probably spot one at a Fall festival in the Appalachian region in the eastern United States. Better yet, you could just come to Cracker Barrel. We have one hanging on our wall!
Clue: This artifact was popular on most American farms to make a sweet spread for biscuits, breads, and pancakes.
Clue: The sweet spread associated with this artifact is said to come from Germany, but this artifact hails from the United Sates, circa 1930s.
Clue: This type of artifact was carved out of wood, and sanded smooth. It has a large surface with holes, and an extension arm for optimal stirring.
Clue: Making apple butter was a family affair. Everyone would take turns using this artifact to stir the apple butter in large copper kettles.
Artifact 2
Clue: When hunting for one of these artifacts you want to look for the brand stamp located on the front or back. It will tell you the approximate year it was made, and where it came from.
Clue: Even in the 1900s folks loved their morning cup o’ Joe. This artifact was a viral part of that morning ritual.
Clue: It’s believed that the first electric coffee percolator came out around 1910, but this artifact was powered by hand.
Clue: Use this artifact to grind up tiny beans from areas located close to the equator in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
Artifact 3
Clue: This artifact was a staple on most American farms in the 1930s.
Clue: This artifact will give your arm a real work-out.
Clue: In the earlier days of farming, this artifact would have been used after the corn had been picked and shelled
Clue: This artifact helped farmers prepare corn to make delicious treats like corn muffins and corn bread.
