The giveaway will begin at local Verizon Wireless store locations at 1 p.m. on July 28. Please be aware that store lines are anticipated to form earlier than store doors open.
This year, 1,117 locations are participating, and Verizon Wireless is giving away 120,000 backpacks.
Why backpacks? On average, families spend about $890 on school supplies each year. 1 in 5 school-aged children live in poverty.
BONUS GIVEAWAY: 10 lucky students around the country will receive a backpack with a golden ruler keychain. Each student will receive $100 to purchase school supplies, and their school will receive a $1,000 Amazon wish list buyout.
