Official Rules: open to US, DC, 5 to 12 years of age. Begins on January 29 and ends on May 1. No limit on the number of entries.
Your child will need to submit the most imaginative story ideas they can possibly think of.
Judging Criteria: creativity and imagination, with equal weight given to each criterion.
One (1) Prize: One winner and his/her parent or legal guardian shall travel to New York City or to Chicago to participate in a workshop with representatives from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the new musical team, the winner’s short story idea will be transformed into a theatrical creation. The trip includes round-trip economy class airfare (or ground transportation costs if winner and companion are local) for two from the airport (or transportation center) nearest the winner’s hometown to New York, New York or to Chicago, Illinois and hotel accommodations for two for up to two nights. If New York City, the trip must take place by August 31, 2018. If Chicago, Illinois, the trip must take place in September 2018. The location of this prize shall be within the Sponsor’s sole discretion. ARV: up to $2,500
One (1) Prize: One winner and his/her parent or legal guardian shall travel to Hollywood, California to have a workshop with the Warner Bros. Consumer Product team to help inspire a new creation. The trip includes round-trip economy class airfare (or ground transportation costs if winner and companion are local) for two from the airport (or transportation center) nearest the winner’s hometown to Los Angeles, California and hotel accommodations for two for up to two nights. The Hollywood trip must take place by August 31, 2018. ARV: up to $2,500
One (1) Prize: One winner and his/her parent or legal guardian shall travel to Seattle, Washington and meet with Minecraft builders. The Minecraft Education team and a YouTube creator will transform the winning short story idea into a Minecraft world. The trip includes round-trip economy class airfare (or ground transportation costs if winner and companion are local) for two from the airport (or transportation center) nearest the winner’s hometown to Seattle, Washington and hotel accommodations for two for up to two (2) nights. The Seattle trip must take place by August 31, 2018. ARV: up to $2,500
One (1) Prize: One winner and his/her parent or legal guardian shall travel to Los Angeles, California, where the winner will meet with authors Lin Oliver and Henry Winkler for a writing workshop, where the winner’s short story idea will be transformed into a publishable work. The trip includes round-trip economy class airfare (or ground transportation costs if winner and companion are local) for two from the airport (or transportation center) nearest the winner’s hometown to Los Angeles, CA and hotel accommodations for two for up to two nights. The Los Angeles trip must take place by August 31, 2018. ARV: up to $2,500
One (1) Prize: One winner and his/her parent or legal guardian shall travel to New York City and shall work with a representative of Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York City, to create a wonderful piece of candy inspired by the winner’s short story idea. The trip includes round-trip economy class airfare (or ground transportation costs if winner and companion are local) for two from the airport (or transportation center) nearest the winner’s hometown to New York, New York and hotel accommodations for two for up to two nights. The New York Trip must take place by August 31, 2018. ARV: up to $2,500
