I guess I must be doing something right. I got this email today from a reader named Page. Notes like this help me to keep doing what I am doing. I love seeing other people win and I am glad to help in anyway I can. Let me know if I can help you win and please share your story with me at [email protected].
From Page:
Thank you for your website. I have entered quite a few of the contests you have posted over the past week.
We live paycheck to paycheck raising three children and paying high rent (California) so I have started entering contests. We can’t afford to go on vacation so I am hoping to win a vacation.
I really want to win the flip video camera from gogurt. I have entered it every day, several times a day with actual codes found on the gogurts. I have entered every night for about a week every hour after 10 or clock or so PST through to the 2:00 PST hour but can’t seem to get a win. I really want it to give to my daughter (8) for her birthday this month. I also hope to win her and her little sister their own laptop, which they really want since we don’t watch TV and don’t own a TV.
I did win a $25 Home depot gift card last night which will come in handy. I was so surprised to win 🙂
Your information has been invaluable. My aunt, who lives in Canada (I am originally from Canada, but now live in CA) would enter family member into contests when I was a child.
She won 4 bikes for our family of four. She also won two different trips to Europe for my grandmother. My grandma took me and my sister on the first trip to Europe when we were only 12 and 9 years old.
In Canada there is a purchase required for contests and you have to collect the labels. So my aunt, saved labels from everything. When the family would visit they would bring grocery bags of carefully peeled off can and jar labels as well as flattened boxes, etc., pooling all of our labels.
Half of her entire basement is dedicated to contesting where she has floor to ceiling files of all the labels. When a contest would come up she would simply go to her file and pull out the required labels for entry and enter the family for whom the prize would be most suitable.
I have always entered contests, but I have never won anything big. In fact the biggest thing I have won is the $25 HD giftcard. I go for small local contests whenever I see them. I once won a wool blanket from my local Wells Fargo. I would never have like a blanket like it, but since I won it, I love it!
Wendy you are a “sweetie!” so that is a good name for your site. I re-read your instant win tips so i am going to keep trying on the gogurt site. There must be a ton of people entering that contest around the clock!
God bless you, Page
My response:
I am happy to help. We are also a middle class family and never had extra money to spend on things like new TVs, trips, or eating out much when our children were growing up. Sweepstakes came my way back in 1993 and once I won my first TV from Captain Crunch cereal I was hooked.
Over the year we have won things like a tuxedo rental for one of my son’s prom, bicycles when we couldn’t afford one for a birthday present, $2,000 in cash that my youngest son used to buy his first car, restaurant gift certificates when we couldn’t afford to go out to eat, a year of AOL (back in 1998), a laptop for my son when he went to college, free groceries, free furniture, free gas, 6 TVs, and on and on. This Christmas half of what we gave for presents were from sweepstakes wins.
Thank you and keep reading. I am sure you will win. It is all a matter of time. I am going to write more tips and also what to do to keep you going when you aren’t winning so stay tuned 🙂
