My name is Wendy Limauge and I have been entering and winning sweepstakes since 1993 when I won my first TV from Captain Crunch cereal. Sweeties Sweeps is where I share my passion for winning sweepstakes and help you learn how you to can be a winner too!
I come from a typical, middle class family and sweepstakes has helped us get things we could never afford on our income alone, go on fabulous trips, and indulge a little in the “good life”.
How I got started
I started entering sweepstakes back in 1996 when I was a couponer (yes folks, we were couponing before it became an extreme sport!). Someone in my coupon group told me about sweepstakes and how you could win prizes by entering them. Back then there was no real Internet so every sweepstakes was entered through the mail. This meant hundreds of hand-written entries but since there was no Internet it was something to do. But, it was worth it! I won my first prize within a month – a TV, stereo, headphones and $25 from Cap’N Crunch Cereal. I sent in 6 entries. I still have the winning letter in my prize book!
Over the years I’ve won things my family needed like gift certificates to buy groceries, gas, food, and clothes. I won bikes for my kids birthdays, and trips we could never afford to go on.
We won the truck we still drive, a $25,000 trip to France where we stayed in a castle, trips to the Bahamas, Florida, Hollywood, Newport Rhode Island, and so much more. It helped our family do things we never dreamed of.
Sweepers Become Brand Ambassadors
Over the years (before blogging) we became brand ambassadors to our friends and family as we would be introduced to companies and products we never heard about and once we tried them we often fell in love with our favorites and told our friends and family. A good example is the first computer we ever won. My son won a Dell laptop the week before he went to college. Ever since then all of our computers have been from Dell. I won Microsoft Works 2.0 from AOL and that started my computer business. I used to tell all of my clients to buy Dells back then.
You never know what you will win that will change your life and the life of the company who is looking for new customers who could become loyal for years down the road. Sweepstakes are a WIN-WIN for both the consumer and the brand.
