  1. I am currently entering my senior year at Pomona College, and as the first person in my family to attend a four year college, it has been a struggle for me financially to make ends meet. I come from a single parent household where my mother has had to do all of the leg work, and during my first two years of college she has supported me immensely by taking out loans so that I could further my education. Unfortunately her financial situation did not turn out as planned, which resulted in me having to take out loans for my junior and now senior year. I am grateful to have received the Posse Foundation Leadership scholarship in 2014 as that has helped subsidize a great portion of my tuition, which is approximately $60,000 per year. If chosen for this amazing opportunity, I plan on saving the award so that I can pay it forward to my mother by sending her on a nice vacation, as she spends long hours at work to make ends meet.

    Thank you!
