I just had an email from a reader who asked this question about mail-in entries.
I have a quick question for you. I want to do alot of mail-ins, do you have a recommendation on how could do a 3×5 card without an envelope? Something I can just put my info on one side and address it with a stamp on the other?
Here is my answer:
You can never send a 3×5 card in the mail without an envelope. It is too small to go through the postal system and they would reject it. The smallest mailable postcard is 3 by 5-1/2 inches.
From the USPS Site: Postcard Dimensions Not less than 3-1/2 inches high, 5 inches long, and 0.007 inch thick.
If you want to take a look at it, here is what the US Postal Service requires and says about mail sizes pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/101.htm
If the sweepstakes official rules specify a 3×5 card then you must put it in an envelope. Anything outside of an envelope would be considered a postcard and unless they specifically specify postcard then you should not send one.
