About Sweeties Sweeps

Tuesday, July 01, 2008

My name is Wendy Limauge. I live in Connecticut. I setup Sweeties Sweeps to share my passion for entering and winning sweepstakes and to help you learn how you to can win what you can't afford through sweepstakes. This has been a hobby for me since 1993. Sweeties Sweeps is where I post winnable sweepstakes, blog giveaways, and IWG (instant win games) for you to enter. But, I don't stop there. I spend time giving you tips and tricks for winning and I also write in-depth articles that will teach you to be a winner too! If you don't believe me then read what my readers are saying and also read some of the things they have won because of this site.

I have been an Internet and Computer "Geek" since 1993. Online I started with QLink, an Internet provider service for the Commodore computer, moved to AOL the first week they started and never looked back.

The first prize I ever won online was Microsoft Works 4.0 from America Online which helped me start my computer consulting business. For a long time I was known as The Computer Lady. I don't run that business much anymore although I do some side work and maintenance for former customers and write a blog teaching people how to blog, earn money blogging, and I also write basic computer tutorials occasionally. I currently work with my husband full-time in a online business (read more below).

I have been married to Greg since 1979 and have 3 grown boys. I am also a Grandmama and love cats. I have been married to Greg for 29 years. We have had our ups and downs like any couple but I can say that we are definitely each others best friend.

We own and operate Limauge Boutique, an online Lavender business. We started this business back in 2004 after we took a trip to France (which we won from Forbes.com) that changed our lives. You will have to visit our website to read more.

online sweepstakesThat trip (which we won in 2001 and took in 2002) was the biggest thing we have ever won (well, maybe next to the Dodge truck). It was valued at $25,000. We flew business class to France and picked up our BMW rental car. We drove to Normandy and for 3 days stayed in the Chateau de Balleroy which is a castle owned by the Forbes family. We had our own cook and basically the run of this huge chateau. We visited the beaches of Normandy, Mont St. Michel, and walked the streets along Giverny and Honfleur. We then went onto Paris and stayed there for 4 more days. We took a scenic cruise along the Seine River, ate a fancy restaurants and cafes, and went to the Moulin Rouge. It was the best trip we have been on and the reason why we started Limauge Boutique.

online sweepstakesIn October of 2003 we won an $18,000 voucher to get a vehicle of our choice. We decided to trade in our Dodge Durango and get my husband a new 2004 Dodge truck. We won this vehicle by sending in a total of 4 postcards to a local grocery store sweepstakes. Local sweepstakes have better odds of winning because you are only competing with people in your local area. We still drive it and it is totally paid off which sure helps in this economy.

Many of the prizes we win are things we could never afford like TVs, furniture, electronics, computers, cash, and gift certificates. We always try to enter for the things we need or can give away to friends or family who need them. Every year we win around 200 to 300 prizes. While the value ranges from high to low we feel blessed in what we win because it helps our budget so much.

Update! I just won $5,000 from an instant win game sponsored by Burger King. One of my readers also won $5,000 in this game. This year (2009) I have also won $100 in groceries, a PS3, and Wii Fit and it's just March.

Like we have always said in our family, we win what we are supposed to win, and that has definitely been true for us. Some of the prizes we win have changed our lives so it has been more than a hobby for us. We appreciate the sponsor and judging agencies who officiate over this hobby. We always try to send thank you notes and let the sponsors knows that we do try their product or service. We have found some great products and service we never knew about until we found their sweepstakes so it is a great way for businesses to promote themselves.

Kitter CatOur boys are all grown up now and living on their own. So now our children are our cats. The black and white cat is Kitter. She's evil as you can tell from the eye expression. The giant orange cat is Pyscho Kitty. He's very needy :) But we love them both and we also feed and take care of any neighborhood cat (or possum) that comes along.

Psycho KittyLife is good and very full and never stays the same. Sometimes I like that and other times I wish I could take a snapshot of a certain day and time and lock it into place forever. I guess that is why we love having photos in our house. I can look at that picture and go back in time and remember how it that day or how an event made me feel and smile or cry depending on the picture. But, that's life - making memories - and telling stories about the journey.

I started blogging in 2008 and am learning each and everyday. I am like a sponge when it comes to technology and try to soak up every bit. That's a hard thing since something new seems to come out daily but that is what keeps me interested in it.

I hope you like Sweeties Sweeps and will come back again and again - and of course, share it with your friends. I love seeing other people win. That is why I started this blog - to make you a winner too!

Well, I somehow ended up here because I was trying to contact you to ask you who did your little cartoon character (I want one!), but then I ended up reading your bio. What a lovely write-up! You have a very clear and sincere style about you. I'm a web developer, so maybe our minds think alike. I'm also an empty nester. :) Nice "meeting" you, and let me know where I can get a cartoon character made up. I'd like to open an e-crater or etsy store eventually.

Hi Wendy. I've been a huge winner too. Been sweeping since 1997. I've won four vehicles, a motor scooter, about 25 trips, three cruises, maybe $200,000 in cash, and tens of thousands in electronics. My last big win came last month. It was a 2009 Harley Daidson V-Rod Muscle motorcycle (ARV $17,200).

A few of my trips qualify as "dream trips". There was the week-long cruise on the Crystal Symphony, sailing the west coast of Mexico; the $50,000 Gillette trip to Las Vegas; the 7-Up trip to Manhattan to compete in a free-throw competition at Madison Square Garden, during halftime of a NCAA March Madness game. I won $20,000 and a 2005 Lincoln Aviator worth $65,000 in that one. Then there was the two-week cruise to Tahiti and Bora Bora, with $51,000 cash thrown in.

Last October I won a trip to Los Angeles to visit Warner Brothers Studios, the set of Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, and even got to meet several of the main actors and watch them reherse a scene!

Nice to meet fellow sweepers here!

I'm glad you re-posted today since I only recently found your site. It's nice to read more about you.

So last night I was sweeping and as I won (another $10 gift card from Century) I laughed. My husband was in the kitchen and he said, "Oh I know that maniacal little laugh. You just won something didn't you?"

HAHA! I've only been doing doing it three weeks but am thoroughly enjoying it.

I once won an oil change (at my middle school dance...for my gocart???) and a hanging plant and a dinner function. Oh, almost forgot...won a nice surround sound system from a company Christmas party (I donated to Lottie Moon function). I once bought 20 extra (5 given) raffle tickets and they ended up with almost as many prizes as tickets....and I STILL didn't win...found out my tickets never made it to the bin. Lastly, I personally know of two company "sweepstakes" where the prizes went to friends of mine who happened to be friends with people at the companies too....lol

I'm extremely new to this...like TODAY new, but this sounds both exciting and rewarding if you just put in the time and effort to stick with it. I'm partially disabled and can't work outside the home and have been looking into income-making opportunities on the internet but am always fearful I will be taken for a sucker. I will try out your site and tips and hopefully I'll be able to receive some of the same blessings that you've received. I've always believed that "nothing’s for free" but sounds like you've found a way to dodge that old adage. Well, here's goes nothing I guess. Wish me luck!!!
